This year’s Fire Safety Week is from Monday, October 18 – Friday, October 22.
The New York Fire Department (FDNY) works throughout the year to educate our community about fire safety. This year’s campaign, “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety™,” works to educate everyone about the small but important actions they can take to keep themselves, their homes, and those around them safe.
According to the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®), it’s important for people to learn the different sounds of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. When an alarm makes noise—a beeping sound or a chirping sound—it’s time for action.
We invite you to be part of this life-saving cause, to help members of the community reduce their risk of fire and be prepared in the event of a fire. This year’s Fire Safety Week theme works to educate the community on how to stay safe and “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety.”
