Please allow me to take this opportunity to welcome you to our school family and introduce myself. My name is Rachel Caracci. I was born and raised in Rego Park and I love that I am raising my two children close to where my parents still live on Woodhaven Boulevard. This community means a lot to me, as does my commitment to childhood education. Prior to joining the PS 174 community as the parent coordinator, I worked as a teaching assistant in preschool special education for thirteen years. The position of Parent Coordinator was established to support and involve you, the parent community, in your child/children’s education. In this way, it combines my experience both as an educator and a parent and informs my belief that the job of learning is one that is never done!
Through the year, I will provide information, outreach, and support to you so that you can help your child/children to be as academically successful as possible. Studies show that the more involved a parent is in the education of their child, the more success the child has in school. Your involvement is truly one of the greatest and lasting gifts you can bestow upon your child/children. Together, we will build a strong foundation for effective communication, ensuring a remarkable year ahead!
Please feel free to stop by the school with any questions, concerns, ideas, or comments. I am available Monday – Friday and I can be reached by phone at (718) 897-7006 or email at RCaracci@schools.nyc.gov. My office, in the Parent Community Room 151, is always open for you. I look forward to working with you by email, phone, or in-person to help our children and our community thrive!
